INFO

Za’atar refers to a type of plant as well as to a blend of spices. The plant is native to the Levant region (which includes modern day Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine and Israel) and it has grown there for thousands of years. Many Lebanese families have their own secret recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation and each region of the Middle East has their own style of za’atar, usually determined by the available local ingredients..
A combination of herbs, sesame seeds, sumac, and salt, it is one of the world's unique and best seasonings. It's loaded with bold flavours and great texture. The taste of a Za'atar mixture can be tangy, herbal, nutty, or toasty.
Za'atar even boasts some health benefits. Its ability to improve the immune system, boost skin health, build strong bones, increase circulation, clear out the respiratory tracts, soothe inflammation, boost energy, improve mood, aid memory, and treat chronic diseases.

How to use:

Sprinkle Za'atar on chicken, beef, or seafood before cooking, sprinkle on to lavosh before placing it to the oven for a couple of minutes. Great with chickpeas and roasted vegetables, or mixed with olive oil and used as a marinade for olives.
